Robert Capa made a huge contribution even in his 40 years of life. He did not invent war photography, but he perfected its intimacy, masterfully working with a 35mm camera. Capa\u2019s idea – intimacy instead of security, empathy instead of alienation – gave birth to modern conflict journalism, influencing the work of an entire photojournalism industry. Capa was a master of photo storytelling, and his work became a treasure trove of truth, even if often unpleasant, of the 20th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capa became a chronicler of Jewish survival, from ashes to olive branches. His memoir, \u201cA Little Out of Focus\u201d (1947), combines bravado with vulnerability, coining \u201cGeneration X\u201d for war-weary European youth, a term that outlived him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
