У британському видавництві Jetstone вийшла антологія “Writing Under Fire: Poetry and Prose from Ukraine and the Black Country” (“Писати під вогнем: Поезія і проза з України та Black Country”).
Збірка присвячена пам’яті української письменниці Вікторії Амеліної, яка загинула через важке поранення, отримане внаслідок обстрілу російськими окупантами Краматорська.
У цій унікальній збірці українські письменники рефлексують про війну росії проти їхньої країни й намагаються зрозуміти вплив терору і завдані травми. Вони ведуть розмову з колегами, чия творчість пов’язана з Black Country у Великій Британії. Розгортається транскультурний діалог, який будує літературний міст із метою підтримки України.
Книгу презентують на Вулвергемптонському літературному фестивалі у Великій Британії.

Кошти від продажу книги підуть на відновлення пограбованої та підпаленої російськими військами Бердянської бібліотеки та поповнення її фондів.

Black Country – район Англії, що входить до Мідленду. Він отримав свою назву завдяки диму від багатьох тисяч чавунообробних ливарних цехів і кузень, а також через роботу неглибоких вугільних пластів товщиною 30 футів.

“Writing under fire”: a collection about the Russian war against Ukraine published in Great Britain
Jetstone publishing house of UK published the anthology “Writing Under Fire: Poetry and Prose from Ukraine and the Black Country”.
The collection is dedicated to the memory of the Ukrainian writer Victoria Amelina, who died as a result of a severe wound received as a result of shelling by the Russian occupiers of Kramatorsk.
“In this unique collection, Ukrainian writers reflect on Russia’s war against their country and try to understand the impact of terror and the injuries caused. They are in conversation with colleagues whose work is related to the Black Country in Great Britain. A transcultural dialogue is unfolding, which is building a literary bridge with the aim of supporting Ukraine,” says the publishing house’s website.
The book will be presented at the Wolverhampton Literary Festival in Great Britain.

The Ukrainian texts were translated into English by Nina Murray and Vitaly Chernetskyi. On the cover of the book is a photo of Tessa Postuma de Boer.
The book was edited by Sebastian Gross, Carmel Dugan, Sofia Filonenko, and Kerry Hadley-Price.
“I want to sincerely and heartily thank you for your support, for solidarity with Ukrainians, for this incredible project, to which so much effort and talent have been invested. Thanks to such books, the world will hear our Ukrainian voice and know the truth about this cruel and criminal Russian war,” said Sofia Filonenko, a professor at Wolverhampton University.
The proceeds from the sale of the book will be used to restore the Berdyansk Library, which was looted and burned by Russian troops, and to replenish its funds.
The book will be available for purchase on the Jetstone website, Waterstones Wolverhampton bookstore and the Wolverhampton Literary Festival.
The Black Country is an area of England that is part of the Midlands. It got its name from the smoke from many thousands of iron foundries and forges, and from the working of shallow coal seams 30 feet thick.
