Педро Руис – колумбийский художник, чье внимание к концептуальной живописи отмечено изучением социально-политического контекста его родной Колумбии.
Педро Руис родился в 1957 г. в Боготе, Колумбия. В 1979-1983 гг. учился в Школе изящных искусств в Париже, потом работал и был членом “Ателье 17”, где он познакомился с теорией основателя парижской школы современной графики мастера Stanley William Hayter.
Вернувшись домой стал арт-директором рекламного агентства McCann Erickson, после нескольких лет успешной работы решил уйти в отставку, чтобы посвятить себя исключительно живописи.
В 2010 году был награжден французским правительством Орденом искусства и литературы, почетная награда, предоставленная Министерством культуры Франции.
Его персональные выставки проходили в галереях в США, Колумбии, в Музее современного искусства в Боготе, Музее современного искусства в Картахене (выставочный зал в Картахене монастыря Санто-Доминго).
Цветы и бабочки в работах Педро Руиса удивляют в количестве и размерах, это относится к желанию, что синие звезды, как небесные цветы, и цветы вполне могут заполнить поля звезд. Во многих культурах душа связана с ветром и воздухом, поэтому полет бабочки, как возрождение души, возвращение к своей изначальной тайне.

Pedro Ruiz is a Colombian artist whose focus on conceptual painting is marked by the study of the socio-political context of his native Colombia.
Pedro Ruiz was born in 1957 in Bogota, Colombia. In 1979-1983, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, then worked and was a member of Atelier 17, where he became acquainted with the theory of the founder of the Parisian school of modern graphics, master Stanley William Hayter.
Returning home, he became art director of advertising agency McCann Erickson, after several years of successful work he decided to retire to devote himself exclusively to painting.
In 2010, he was awarded the Order of Art and Literature by the French government, an honorary award given by the French Ministry of Culture.
His solo exhibitions were held in galleries in the USA, Colombia, at the Museum of Modern Art in Bogota, at the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena (exhibition hall in Cartagena of the Santo Domingo Monastery).
