Українським військам довелося відступити з Авдіївки, щоб уникнути оточення.
Кривава битва за Авдіївку тривала 4 місяці. Росіяни з жовтня 2023 року почали масштабний наступ на Авдіївку. Наприкінці січня ситуація стала критичною, оточення вже було близько. Потрібно було виводити сили ЗСУ, проте вчасно цього не було зроблено.
На початку лютого ситуація стала критичною, і росіянам майже вдалося перерізати шляхи постачання захисників міста.
Для обох сторін Авдіївка має важливе політичне та військове значення. Росіяни намагалися відсунути українські війська на безпечну відстань до Донецька.
Для росіян захоплення Авдіївки – це частина рекламної кампанії з переобрання у березні 2024 року путіна вкотре президентом.
Для України Авдіївка є важливою як великий залізничний вузол, потужний промисловий центр, а також як постійна потенційна загроза для Донецька.
Всього за кілька кілометрів звідси проходить дорога, що з’єднує Донецьк, Горлівку та Луганськ. Для України перерізати її – означало б суттєво ускладнити логістику військ противника.
За 4 місяці боїв у Авдіївки росіянам вдалося просунутися на кілька кілометрів на півночі та півдні. Також росіяни наблизилися до місцевого коксохімічного заводу, який утримується ЗСУ.
У січні росіяни увійшли до Авдіївки з південної та північної околиць. Вони все ближче підходили до єдиної асфальтованої дороги, якою в основному відбувалися постачання гарнізону ЗСУ.
Ситуація на початок лютого стала критичною для українців, і загроза оточення міста та його захисників стала реальністю. Це повторювало ситуацію із Бахмутом. Станом на лютий “безпечний коридор” для виходу ЗСУ був лише близько кількох кілометрів.
У грудні 2023 війська РФ захопили села Степове та Бердичі, а також прорвалися до коксохімічного заводу, тоді утримання Авдіївки почало втрачати сенс для України. Проте командування ЗСУ заявляло про утримання міста та перекидало туди додаткове підкріплення.
Незважаючи на великі втрати, росіяни досягли своєї мети в цьому напрямку.
Наступною “великою метою” для росіян може стати Покровськ за 40 км на захід або ближче до Селидова. Також війська РФ можуть почати рух і на північ – у Краматорськ та Слов’янськ.

Ukrainian troops had to retreat from Avdiivka to avoid encirclement.
The bloody battle for Avdiivka lasted 4 months. Since October 2023, the Russians have launched a large-scale attack on Avdiivka. At the end of January the situation became critical, the encirclement was already close. The Ukrainian Armed Forces should have to be withdrawn, but this was not done on time.
In early February, the situation became critical, and the Russians almost succeeded in cutting off the supply routes for the city’s defenders.
For both sides, Avdiivka has important political and military significance. The Russians tried to push Ukrainian troops to a safe distance from Donetsk.
For Russians, the seizure of Avdiivka is part of an advertising campaign for Putin’s re-election as president in March 2024.
For Ukraine, Avdiivka is important as a large railway junction, a powerful industrial center, and also as a constant potential threat to Donetsk.
Just a few kilometers from here there is a road connecting Donetsk, Horlivka and Lugansk. For Ukraine, cutting it would mean significantly complicating the logistics of enemy troops.
During 4 months of fighting near Avdiivka, the Russians managed to advance several kilometers in the north and south. The Russians also approached the local coke plant, held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In January, the Russians entered Avdiivka from the southern and northern outskirts. They were getting closer and closer to the only paved road along which the main deliveries to the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison took place.
The situation at the beginning of February became critical for the Ukrainians, and the threat of encircling the city and its defenders became a reality. This repeated the situation with Bakhmut. As of February, the “safe corridor” for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to exit was only about a few kilometers.
In December 2023, Russian troops captured the villages of Stepnoe and Berdich, and also broke through to the coke plant, then holding Avdiivka began to lose meaning for Ukraine. However, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that they were holding the city and transferred additional reinforcements there.
Despite heavy losses, the Russians achieved their goals in this direction.
The next “big target” for the Russians could be Pokrovsk, 40 km to the west or closer to Selidovo. Also, Russian troops may begin moving to the north – to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.
